Welcome to the Town of Ackerman, Mississippi

The Town of Ackerman was chartered on February 16, 1884, upon the arrival of the Canton, Aberdeen and Nashville Railroad. Ackerman was named for the president of the railroad, William K. Ackerman. Ackerman has been the County Seat of Choctaw County since 1896. As of the 2000 census, the population was 1,696.
